BIOGRAPHY OF BISHOP H. EVAN SMITH
Harry Evan Smith is the fifth of eight children born to the late District Elder Horace Sr. and Mother Mary Smith on September 3, 1961. He was raised in an environment where he was taught the importance of serving God and was baptized in Jesus’ name at an early age. Harry Evan was educated in the Baltimore City Public School System and went on to attend the Morgan State University.

In 1976, Bishop Smith received the Holy Ghost. He was called to the ministry in 1981 at the Open Door Bible Way Church under the pastorate of his father, the late District Elder Horace Smith, Sr. Bishop Smith served in many different capacities where he was anointed to play the organ and to preach and teach God’s Word. He has a spirit of evangelism and would preach on the streets and carry the Gospel of Jesus Christ into nursing home facilities.

In 1990, Bishop Smith began the ministry in his home. God led Bishop Smith to name the church Agape Assembly for unconditional love. In 1991, Bishop Smith was ordained as an elder in the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World, Inc. In 2000, Bishop Smith was consecrated a bishop and installed as the presiding prelate of the New Covenant Fellowship which included churches and ministries in Washington, DC, Maryland, and Virginia.

In 2002, Bishop Smith graduated from the International Apostolic University of Grace and Truth where he earned is doctorate of divinity.

In 2003, the Lord led Bishop Smith to change the name of the church to New Beginnings Ministry. New Beginnings Ministry is a purpose-driven church with ministries and church operations consisting of the Executive Board, Music Ministry, Christian Education Ministry, Mighty Men of Valor, Women’s Council Association, and Leadership and Ministerial Training.

Bishop Smith operates in the office of Priest, Prophet and Intercessor, Faith Healer, Visionary, Administrator and Organizer.

He has dedicated his life for the cause of Christ and to changing the course of a generation. God continues to give the increase as his ministry experiences growth, elevation and expansion.
